syp ("we," "our," or "us") is a hydration intelligence system developed by Hauzi LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use the syp mobile application and this website.
By using syp, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
We collect the following categories of information:
account information
health and body data
hydration data
workout data from connected services (only if you connect them)
usage and configuration data
website analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use our website. This data is collected in aggregate and is not used to identify you personally. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device. You can opt out at any time using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies in your browser settings.
We also use the Meta Pixel across our website, including our waitlist and VIP reservation pages, to measure how our Facebook and Instagram ads perform and to show our ads to people who may be interested. The Pixel is a small piece of code from Meta that sets cookies and sends Meta information about your visit, such as the pages you view and whether you join the waitlist, click through to Kickstarter, or complete a reservation. This is governed by Meta’s Privacy Policy. You can control ad personalization in your Meta ad preferences, or block cookies in your browser settings.
If you submit your name and email through one of our Facebook or Instagram lead forms, or reserve VIP access on our website, we use that information to send you syp launch updates and VIP offers. You can unsubscribe at any time from any email, or by contacting us.
Within the syp app, we do not collect precise location data, contacts, or any information unrelated to hydration.
We use your information solely to provide and improve the syp experience:
We do not use your app, hydration or health data for advertising, and we do not sell your data to third parties. Website measurement for our own ads (the Meta Pixel) and launch emails to people who sign up are described in section 1.
Your account data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider with industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. Authentication is handled via Supabase Auth.
If you connect WHOOP or Oura, your workouts are retrieved and held by a separate server operated by syp, built on the open-source Open Wearables software and hosted by Railway. See section 6.
Personal data stored locally on your device uses AsyncStorage and is protected by your device's built-in security features.
We implement appropriate technical safeguards to protect your information, but no system is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong password and keep your account credentials private.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:
syp collects body composition and hydration data to personalize your experience. This data is used only within the app to calculate targets and generate insights. It is not shared with health insurance providers, employers, or any third party for purposes beyond app functionality.
Apple Health
If you choose to connect Apple Health, syp asks for permission to read your workouts (type, start and end time, duration) and the active calories burned. syp does not write anything to Apple Health. Your workouts are read on your phone and stay on your phone: they are not uploaded to our servers. A workout only affects your daily hydration goal after you confirm it with “Count”. You can turn this off at any time in syp (Profile → Integrations) and in the iPhone Settings → Health → Data Access.
WHOOP and Oura
If you connect WHOOP or Oura, you log in on WHOOP's or Oura's own page; syp never sees your WHOOP or Oura password. You grant syp access to workouts only (type, start and end time, duration, calories, and average and maximum heart rate). To retrieve them, syp uses a server operated by syp and built on the open-source Open Wearables software, hosted by Railway. This server holds your access authorisation and your workouts, and syp's database (Supabase) holds only a link between your syp account and your Open Wearables identifier, with no health data. syp refreshes your workouts about every hour. When you disconnect WHOOP or Oura in syp, your authorisation is revoked and the workouts stored for you on our server are deleted. You can also revoke access from your WHOOP or Oura account.
Drink photos. When you photograph a drink, the image is sent through a syp server function to Anthropic's Claude service to identify the drink. syp does not keep the photo. We store only a daily counter, used to limit photo analysis to 20 per day. Anthropic deletes this data within 30 days, unless it must keep it to enforce its usage policy or to comply with the law.
Barcodes. When you scan a barcode, the number is sent from your phone to Open Food Facts to look up the product. Open Food Facts receives the barcode number and your IP address, not your syp account.
Nutrition labels. Nutrients you read from a label stay on your phone.
In a Circle, other members see your first name and the initial of your last name (for example “Alex M.”) and your hydration score. Each member can send one cheer per person per day. A cheer notification shows the sender's name and the Circle's name.
If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token to send them. You can turn them off in the iPhone Settings or in syp.
The check-in is optional and asks for your explicit consent. Your answers are stored only on your phone. They are never sent to our servers and never shown to Circle members, teams or coaches. You can delete them at any time.
syp is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

You can disconnect any integration at any time in the app. Depending on where you live, you may also have the rights of access, correction, deletion and portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address below.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of syp after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
